KIHEI BROWN

A member of the Desha/Beamer extended family of musicians, Thomas Kihei Desha Brown was born in Hilo, son of Elizabeth Desha and Harry K. Brown.

He performed with the Haile Choir for years, the Hilo Hawaiians and Hilo Kalimas, started his own trio in 1969, founded a choral group at the University of Oregon, and was active for decades in the Prince Kuhio Civic Club.

He performed at the Sheraton Waikiki and the H.I.C. (now the Blaisdell Arena) and chaired the Civic Clubs Song Contests for six years. He also made a half-dozen record albums. His falsetto was widely admired.
