EMMA VEARY
Emma Maynon Kaipuala Veary Lewis was born in Honolulu; her mother was a Hawaiian language
authority. Emma began performing early, appearing with the EK Fernandez circus at age eight, then she went on to win
many talent and singing contests. While still in high school, she sang at every major Waikiki nightspot.
She
toured in stock companies of Broadway shows and studied opera. She made a number of lyrical recordings
with Jack de Mello's orchestra and has appeared at major nightclubs on the mainland and in Europe. A special
room was built for her at the Halekulani Hotel, where she performed for many years.
