This popular song was composed during World War II. Since it refers to a bay on Guadalcanal in the
Solomon Islands, it was censored when the authors tried to send the song home to their families.
This was because it mentioned a war zone (Lugna Bay on Guadalcanal), and servicemen were prohibited from telling
their families where they were. The song was classified until after the war.

Hawaiian hula eyes
When you dance you hypnotize
Though I can't believe it's true
Hawaiian hula eyes
It's you I'm thinking of
With a haunting dream of love
On the sands of Lunga Bay
Where the sighing zephyrs play
I'm reminded of the one
I love
'Neath the swaying palms
I held you in my arms
My Hawaiian hula eyes
